24-25 October. The “Strasbourg Workshops” were held in Naples on the topic of “Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence”. The project with an innovative approach by the “Scuola Superiore della Magistratura” (the Institution in charge of training magistrates), aimed at a dialogue between the supranational perspective and the national perspective on issues of in-depth examination of the effective application of the rulings of the European Court of Human Rights and the protection of fundamental rights. This was the second event in the series of workshops that began last May with a dialogue on the topic of parental and child protection.
The seminar was attended by public prosecutors specialised in the field, magistrates of ordinary courts and the Court of Cassation, the Judge in respect of Italy at the European Court, representatives from the Permanent Representation of Italy to the Council of Europe and the Ministry of Justice. Ambassador Michele Giacomelli spoke at the opening of the workshop on Monday 24 October.
The event provided a useful opportunity to exchange perspectives on the topic and to share experiences and good practices, in order to define an effective application of the European Convention on Human Rights on the issues at hand and strengthening the justice response to the protection of fundamental rights.
